How can you arrive in Bariloche?
Bariloche is accessible by plane from Buenos Aires (2 hs), El Calafate (2 hs) and, depending on the season, from other cities in Patagonia. By bus, you can get there from Buenos Aires (20 hs), Mendoza (14 hs), Puerto Madryn (14 hs) and Chile (Puerto Montt, 8 hs). By boat, there’s an excursion named “Cruce de Lagos” which allows you to get to Bariloche from Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas in one or two days. Another option to get to Bariloche from Puerto Madryn is by combining a bus to San Antonio Oeste and a night train to the final destination, departure varies according to the season.
By Bus:
If you decide to travel by bus you can choose between different companies, such as "Via Bariloche", "El Crucero del Norte", "Andesmar", etc. The first 2 companies offer different services, where the main variable is comfort and price. You can take "Supercama", which has wide and large seats. "Cama" has wide seats. "Semi-cama" has the normal distribution of 4 seats per row. "Supercama" and "Cama" take as long as 19 hours (summer); "Semi-cama" makes several stops and takes as long as 22 hours (summer).
By plane:
Due to the size of the country, the plane is the most suitable means of transport to cover long distance. It may even be combined with land services. Bariloche airport hosts flights from numerous spots in the country, and even from neighboring countries. In some cases they are direct flights, and in others with a stopover in Neuquén. Foreign visitors arriving at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, need to get to Jorge Newbery Airport to get there the domestic flight to Bariloche.

There are two possible routes from Buenos Aires:
Via La Pampa: Total length: 1585 kilometers. From Buenos Aires to Santa Rosa, in the province of La Pampa, (National Route Nº 5), from there to General Acha and Neuquén across the "Travesía del Desierto" ("Desert Crossing"), and from Neuquén to Bariloche (along Route Nº 237).
Via Bahía Blanca: Total length: 1691 kilometers. From Buenos Aires, along Route Nº 3 up to Bahía Blanca. From there, going past Río Colorado and Río Negro Valley (Route Nº 22) up to Neuquén, and along Route Nº 237 up to Bariloche.
From Neuquén:
Along National Route Nº 22, 50 kilometers up to National Route Nº 237. From there 382 kilometers to reach San Carlos de Bariloche.
